So maybe some of the issues can be solved, I may have overlooked options.
Any Tips are welcome...
When I leave the car, Power will be turned off for my mobile: it would be
great if you could choose OSMAND to stop navigating then. I don‘t want do
need to go into the menue and say cancel the route. Also it would be great
if you can pause navigating… e.g. you drive home from work and stop for
entering a shop. Today you must cancel the route or accept the lady in your
pocket giving tips how to navigate...
It would also be great if you could recal the last route more easily and
also edit it, e.g if your last route was pedestrian or bike, but now you
are in a car and just need to change that (because the new entered route
has taken over the last setting), its inconvenient to need to re-enter just
everything. Even a automatic is possible: if I have a speed >=50km/h and or
follow a car only road, just switch to car mode.
When I go to work, my target position is always at my companies parking
structure. Its on private ground. So every morning I get asked if I really
want to do that – navigating to private ground. That’s annoying. Please
store things like that at least for favourites, work, home. The answer
always will be the same!
Also the Question “Our target is on private ground, do you really….” always
appears only after the gps position is known. So When I leave the house and
start in my garage the navigation is not ready, but pops up while I am
already driving. Again, why a target/end point specific question gets
delayed if the starting point position is unknown? The Target is known and
that it is private ground is also known already!
If I have my mobile in the horizontal orientation, choosing a favourite is
really hard. The screen is big, has a high resolution, but OSMAD only uses
a limited band in the middle of the screen and of the name of the
favourite, only 5 chars are displayed – what’s bad if you have a few very
similar ones like parking place x parking pace Y parking place Z → you get
it, you can’t distinguish em in the displayed selection. But its very
useful (sarcasm!) that the star sign of the favourite is also displayed, so
at least some of the available space is used. It would be a good Idea to
use the whole screen, with tiles like picture viewers do and use multi
lined names if it doesn’t fit in one. Or even show a sketch of the Map at
the targets position...
Also I miss a tracking mode where I do not enter a route, but the
navigations try’s to follow the current street, shows speed, direction, may
warn for pedestrian crossings, tunnels, whatever, uses night view,…
I also would love to be able to distinguish current and arrival time better
and the same with current and maximum speed. Also I would love to be able
to display the current speed bigger, lets say double the size.
When I setup OSMAND first and then mount it im my car, I rotate it plus I
normaly will touch the screen at the outer areas. OSMAND always pops up a
dialog if I want to continue navigation… When the mobile is rotated, moved
fast in different directions, it should ignore touch events for a little
moment.
