for me, the osmand is the worst solution for car city navigation - there is no 3D navigation - can't run into old devices with low hardware specs (1GB ram, 4 CPU cores) - it consume a lot of energy - the route algorithm needs for every Km, time up to 1 sec
into the market , there are competitive apps like Magic Earth, MapFactor or MAPS.ME. All of them are using osm maps and none of the 4 reasons i have say can be found when we are using those apps. As an example i want to say that ... - when we use osmand into city route of 50-60 km, the time is 15-20sec only for ONE result. With those 3 other apps the route results can be from 1-3 answers and the time results, long as 1-2 sec.
