I am using OsmAnd's turn-by-turn navigation (with voice instructions in my earphones, so I don't need to look at the screen) for gpx-tracksvery often, for hiking routes.
Works fine. Once the gpx is in My Places with display on, it's available when tapping Route. After selecting the gpx-trail for routing, there is a snap-to-road option button. I usually have this option active, but I suppose you could switch it off.
