The rtl chip needs 28.8 MHz for USB to work AFAIK. However it is possible to feed the tuner chip and the rtl with diffeent reference clocks. This will help with tuning errors. But it won't fix sample rate errors and this also breaks any fixed relationship between samplerate error and tuning error. Another possibility is to use another xtal for the reference and make it go through an external PLL to generate 28.8 MHz. Cheers, Sylvain
