Found something interesting, if this is what all the excitement is about.
They ARE using osmocom rtlsdr.

The link to the Touchstone PRO "evaluation" demo is actually the pro version
and needs a key. You have to take the pro off the filename.

You can actually use this one with the rtlsdr. There is no limitations that
I could find in the 5 minutes I played with it. If you download and install the
pro version it's using the same osmocom rtlsdr stuff.

Anyway, app looks like any other open source rtl_fm spectrum sweep.
