I won't modify the core in any way. Even if I need a new entity type, I'd create it in my own package
In fact I did so already: I created org.openstreetmap.osmosis.history.domain.MinorWay and org.openstreetmap.osmosis.history.domain.MinorWayContainer both inherit from their logical parents.
