Hi,

there have been several reports that PBF formatted planet files updated with osmupdate are not compatible with osmosis.

I started an investigation to find the problem. It is currently unknown if the problem is located on osmupdate or on osmosis site or if that's a different understanding of the PBF format.

The current status is that a planet file updated with osmupdate can be read by osmsosis without any error message but osmosis reads different longitude values than osmconvert/osmupdate. osmosis even reads invalid longitude values. When converting the planet file from pbf to osm.xml format with osmosis there are many longitude values with values > 180°.

It would be great if one of you (osmosis developers) can read, follow and contribute to the thread dealing with this problem: http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=17194

Thanks!
WanMil
