On the other hand, if you move the via point up the right road, it doesn't make 
the detour:

I think it would be better if OSRM allowed u-turns in cases like this. Ie. 
allow u-turns, but with a penalty so they will only be used when no better 
option exists. Nobody would take a detour of 26 km to avoid a u-turn on road in 
the countryside.

Hello,
Can anyone please tell me why OSRM adds an additional backward track sometimes 
when routing three points.

For example, at this URL, the track turns left instead of right, then proceeds 
to the destination.
