http://manuals.opensound.com/developer/SNDCTL_MIXERINFO.html doesn't document the "enabled" field. That field is tagged as "Reserved" in soundcard.h, but knowing whether the mixer is enabled does seem important for userland. (Also "handle" isn't documented, but isn't tagged as "Reserved" either).
