Hi all,

I decided to release a new OSS source drop since the previous one was
very old (080509). In addition the current version seems to be
relatively stable (however not bug free).

The main changes since the 080509 version were new vmix subsystem and
the oss_userdev driver.

Virtual mixer (vmix) is now part of the audio framework instead of a
pseudo driver. This means that there is no vmix.conf any more. Instead
the config settings can be changed in ossxmix/ossmix (vmix_rate is still
not changeable).

The oss_userdev driver is a loopback audio driver that can be used to
implement "user land" devices. For example it can be used to implement
support for FireWire audio under Linux. Somebody just needs to port the
FreeBob package to work as an oss_userdev server.

There are many other changes too. The complete change log is available
at the Mercurial server (http://mercurial.opensound.com).

Best regards,

Hannu
