Hi Panom, I did a test like that a while ago and posted some information at:
http://www.ossec.net/dcid/?p=69 Basically, what I got is that an old PIII with 512M of RAM could easily handle more than 600 events per second (without breaking a sweat, with a very low CPU usage).
