Derek, Try downloading the MySQL client development libraries for your distro. On debian, the deb looks something _like_ "apt-get install libmysqlclient15-dev" or "apt-get install mysql-dev".
I'm not sure if this will make a difference, but putting the MySQL libraries in your path might help. From a former Cid email: " You don't have MySQL in your library path.
