I think the bigger problem I'm having is that the base Linux the vendor I'm trying to compile for is using is ancient (based on Red Hat 7.3). When I use a newer compiler, static or no, I get "FATAL: Kernel too old" an older compiler just segfaults. It runs fine in my 7.3 dev environment but not on the vendor's system. Oh well, back to the drawing board. Thanks guys.
