However..  OSSEC is really good at parsing logs..  You could set up
something like snmptrapd from net-snmp and place the information in a
log.  Point OSSEC at the logs and have at it.  If you need more detailed
information, take a look at snmptt.  I use both of those packages to
pass information to Nagios for active alerting.
