[ossec-list] ossec web ui no longer working

I recently applied some updates to the server ossec is residing on (rhel 5) 
then restarted the system, and now the web ui is complaining about permissions 
"Unable to access ossec directory. "
I went back and checked the permissions using this page 
http://www.ossec.net/dcid/?p=17 but I still receive the same error.  Nothing is 
jumping out at me in any of the logs.  Has anyone encountered this before?
