I have the same problem, today I noticed that my system was using lots
of memory and swap, here the output:

 9340 ossecm 20 0 2685M 885M 292 S 0.0 22.9 16:01.53
/opt/ossec/bin/ossec-csyslogd

I restarted ossec and memory and swap was released:

24953 root 20 0 4516 824 440 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.45
/opt/ossec/bin/ossec-syscheckd

What could be the cause of the problem, I can provide more info if
requested.

Best regards.
