I'm confused as to the extent of IPv6 support and if I'm not doing something correctly. I saw at (http://www.ossec.net/main/ossec-net- and-ipv6) that "We have added IPv6 support for the agent->manager communication on OSSEC in the latest version (2.6) " I searched and found this (http://groups.google.com/group/ossec-list/browse_thread/ thread/ca1a251b923cfe30/4b1c84169dc8c680? lnk=gst&q=ipv6#4b1c84169dc8c680) unanswered query about agents not allowing a v6 server address.
I downloaded, today, ossec-hids-2.6.tar.gz and ran install.sh with the agent option. Here is the result of trying to point the agent at a v6 server: 3- Configuring the OSSEC HIDS. 3.1- What's the IP Address of the OSSEC HIDS server?: fda1::1 3.1- What's the IP Address of the OSSEC HIDS server?: fda1:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0001 3.1- What's the IP Address of the OSSEC HIDS server?: 2001:4860:800a::63 3.1- What's the IP Address of the OSSEC HIDS server?: 2001:4860:800a: 0000:0000:0000:0000:0063 3.1- What's the IP Address of the OSSEC HIDS server?: Please advise and thank you for any help. -dave
