I think we should start a release.  2.8?  We have a fair amount of
changes in sense moving to github and looks like things are moving
great.

Sense we don't have release process we should come up with that and

As you noted, we have a lot of changes. Some of them are major. I'd rather see a stable 2.7 branch maintained for awhile while we really break away for 3.0.

I don't understand. Some of the are major yes and some of them change the contract with the users. Example install will be different, rules have been removed, and much much more. This means new version not a bug fix release. So I say release 2.8.

3.0 is a time of HUGE changes and we are not even started on that. I talk about it but no code has made it in yet.
