I have been running OSSEC HIDS for several years. It is currently installed on
Centos, ver 5.1. I looked in the documentation to see what versions of Centos
are supported but didn't see any.

Here are my questions:

1. Should (and can) I upgrade the Centos to the most recent version?

2. From what I have read, Ubuntu is better for security type installs. Can
I build a new server using Ubuntu and have the agents report to it? I am
guessing I would have to copy some file(s) that contain the agents that are
known.

Pros and cons of upgrading Centos to most current (7) version.
Pros and cons of moving install of OSSEC to new server with Ubuntu disto?
