Well, maybe it's time to test it :) :)
Of course I'll do it myself, it may be usefull for others if I succeed.
The actual freebsd port is 3.1, shall I get the latest sources and start
with those?

BTW, my agent is on FreeBSD/ppc64, the server is on FreeBSD/amd64.
I may try to fire up a server on another PPC64 to see if it solves the
issue.
