I suppose this is what happens when arm-chair nutters try to make  
policy decisions.  ;)

Just to be clear, I'm for protecting them as well.  Whether that  
requires action to protect them, or leaving them alone, or simply  
being mindful of the habitat I don't know.  I'm pretty sure there are  
better educated "elitists" ;) out there who can better decide.
