This is not a right to bear arms issue. ( the hypocrisy is stunning,
actually)
Plotting with others to commit a crime IS a crime and the group had
been infiltrated so there was inside knowledge of what they planned to
do with the gun and knives.
This is basic police stuff and it will indeed provoke a SWAT raid.
It's good to use SWAT when you know you are going to face armed bad
guys.
Besides, It's not like they created a secret jail for them or something.
