So...

this is apparently a quote from Obama. I haven't checked but if you feel it is wrong then by all means do.

Q: When you were in the state senate, you talked about licensing and registering gun owners. Would you do that as president? A: I don't think that we can get that done. But what we can do is to provide just some common-sense enforcement. The efforts by law enforcement to obtain the information required to trace back guns that have been used in crimes to unscrupulous gun dealers. As president, I intend to make it happen. We essentially have two realities, when it comes to guns, in this country. You've got the tradition of lawful gun ownership. It is very important for many Americans to be able to hunt, fish, take their kids out, teach them how to shoot. Then you've got the reality of 34 Chicago public school students who get shot down on the streets of Chicago. We can reconcile those two realities by making sure the Second Amendment is respected and that people are able to lawfully own guns, but that we also start cracking down on the kinds of abuses of firearms that we see on the streets.

Let's see. Chicago. Until the Heller decision it and it's surrounding communities had strict gun control laws.

Chicago has a gun control persons ideal laws already!!

Important parts are this.

ALL OF THAT BS that congress has said they would like to do.
and a lot of you folks on the list argue for on occasion.

You know. "Treat guns like cars.. require a license to possess ammunition, or guns..."
require a waiting period.

Guess what. They have all that already..

• is unlawful to possess any firearm or ammunition without a valid FOID. • It is unlawful for any person under the age of 18 to possess a handgun, or concealable firearm. • It is unlawful for any person to possess any firearm with intent to use it unlawfully against another. • It is unlawful to possess any rifle having one or more barrels less than 16" in length or a shotgun having one or more barrels less than 18" in length or any weapon made from a rifle or shotgun, if such weapon as modified has an overall length of less than 26 inches.

• It is unlawful to possess any firearm in any place licensed to sell intoxicating beverages, or at any public gathering (except a gun show) at which an admission is charged. An exception is provided for the owner, manager or an authorized employee of the establishments. • It is unlawful for the following persons to possess a firearm or ammunition:

......under 18 and the usual nut job/ wife beater, felon group.

Note: In Chicago it is unlawful to keep any firearm unless it has been registered with the Chicago Police.

Here is the whole thing. go read it. I'll wait..

So the question is "How's that working out for you?" All those regulations and restrictions... Looks pretty amazing and comprehensive to me

It is said that Idiocy is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different out come.

That pretty much defines the liberal obsession with passing more gun laws.

Obama thinks that "we also start cracking down on kinds of abuses of firearms that we see on the streets"

What in $Deities name could he add that would make any difference?

Not that anyone in Chicago could be carrying..

"It is unlawful to carry or possess any firearm in any vehicle or concealed on or about the person, except on one's land or or fixed place of business. It is unlawful to carry or possess any firearm on any public street or other public lands within the corporate limits of a city, village, or incorporated town, except when: an invitee thereon or therein, for the purpose of the display of firearms or the lawful commerce in firearms."

SO according to Liberal theology, there are no guns there. After all they passed a fucking pile of laws that prevent them from existing..

Here is a crazy thought.

How about an idea that works?

"Like many states, Utah enacted a concealed-handgun licensing law in 1995. Unlike most states,Utah did not make schools an exclusion zone for lawful carrying. Not only a teacher on duty, but also a parent coming to pick up a child from school, can lawfully carry a concealed handgun in a Utah school building — after, of course, passing a background check and safety training. (See Utah Code sect. 76-10-505.5. In 2003, the legislature expanded the law, by allowing principals to authorize firearms possession by individuals who did not have a concealed-handgun carry permit.)

After eleven years of experience in Utah, we now have exactly zero reported problems of concealed handgun licensees misusing guns at school, or students stealing guns from teachers, or teachers using their licensed firearms to shoot or threaten students. During this same period, we also have had exactly zero mass murders in Utah schools. "

WTF? ZERO mass murders in Utah schools? NO parents or teachers run amok?

Quick! Someone tell Obama! He PROMISED that he would look at programs that work and get rid of one's that do not work.

Chicago's guns laws would not be a bad place to start.

All those guns all over the place. Teachers, parents and anyone else legally allowed to carry can carry on school property.

Should be blood running in the streets and gun battles on every school ground, no? After all we know it is the GUN not the person that is responsible. We know that an otherwise stable, law abiding person that can pass a gun safety course and and FBI background check will start a gun fight at the drop of a hat
ON A SCHOOL GROUND, for sure, at the slightest provocation.

OTOH, Utah already has a working solution that doesn't require bad guys to obey the law. Think about that for a sec. "bad guy does not have to obey law for this to work.."

I guess it's a mormon thing. That is the only possible explanation. They are religious nut jobs that carry guns all the time and the bad guys are afraid of them knocking on their door.

The horror.

=c=
