More reputable/reliable than LaCie ? They don't make their own disks, but use quality components. Over the years I've never had a LaCie device fail on me. Must have had at least half a dozen over more than a decade by now. Most of the devices I've had, have had either Toshiba, or Seagate disks in them. I currently have the 1TB Network Space at home and use it for more, or less what you describe plus making media (films, photos and music) available to LAN clients (all Macs). Works perfectly although the LaCie management software is a little irksome. I picked up the 1TB for about 120 Euro which makes that amazon uk price seem steep.
