total unlocking virgin here, but that cherry may be popped soon... Having enquired about upgrading and extending my contract, I was informed by T-mobile (Germany) that if I buy a new device (either a current 3G or anything that might come out in the summer) and extend my contract, they still won't SIM-unlock my current "2G" Phone until 9th Nov.
So, I'm thinking about trying a SIM Unlock so that the 2G can be used with another SIM I have. However I don't want to jailbreak the OS. Are the claims of place like iphoneunlockuk.com <http://www.iphoneunlockuk.com/iphone-unlocking-faq.php#12> credible ? For example, this: <http://www.iphoneunlockuk.com/iphone-unlocking-faq.php#6> implies that a SIM Unlock without Jailbreak is possible. Further answers to FAQs claim that after a single SIM Unlock, the iPhone will remain unlocked following subsequent OS upgrades and restores and that the only feature that won't work is visual voicemail. Credible ? Also, I don't see any settings for EDGE under General->Network on my still locked 2G. Do these settings just appear if a new (valid) carrier is selected ? wtia, mark. _______________________________________________ OSX-Nutters mailing list | [email protected] http://lists.tit-wank.com/mailman/listinfo/osx-nutters List hosted at http://cat5.org/
