Of course there is the old Object Labeling module from Monteverdi, but
we recently made some important step toward segmentation of really large
image, and as part of this job (which has been done by David Youssefi
during his internship at CNES), we also did a bit of Object Based
Classification on the segmentation.
Basically, there are two applications with almost the same API than the
raster ones (otbcli_TrainVectorImageClassifier and
otbcli_TrainImageClassifier), but they classify features from a vector
file (like shapefile) instead of pixels from an image. The reason this
is not yet in OTB is that the LSMS (Large Scale MeanShift segmentation)
code was ready to use, whereas on the vector classification side there
is a bit of rework to get a better convergence between raster
classification and vector classification, which we did not achieve yet.
However, I have the code of those applications, and I can make it
available to you, until we find time to make a proper integration of
these function into OTB.
