I would advise you to have a look at this segmentation framework :

You can skip the first step if you do not want the MeanShift smoothing part.

The benefits are twofold :
- No artificial borders created by tiling,
- The output shapefile will contain radiometric attributes as well as some shape attributes.

After this, you can perform OBIA directly within qgis, or through ogr command-line tool (see for instance http://gdal.org/ogr2ogr.html and http://www.gdal.org/ogr/ogr_sql.html ). You could also do it with your current output from the Segmentation app, but the features in the shapefile will not have any attributes (we still have to add some functions to compute them yet)

New to Monteverdi and OTB. I just finished a connected components segmentation using the Segmentation module and the large-scale vector output mode for large datasets. How can I filter the output (now a shp file) using an OBIA Expression like that available in the Connected Components module? Do I rasterize the shp? I don't see an OBIA module that starts from such a raster--only the integrated CC segmentation and OBIA tool that I couldn't use because my dataset is too large. Maybe I'm missing something. Thanks for any help.
