Thank you Jonathan. I was not looking for an application, but it helped me 
find the solution: I needed to get the image region in order to get its 
size. 

InputImageType::Pointer inImage = templateReader->GetOutput();
inImage->GetLargestPossibleRegion().GetIndex()[0];
