thanks a lot for your reply!
the link to *itk* doxygen really helped. I just mixed up the Features and 
the formulas for "Correlation" and "Haralick's Correlation".

According to the original paper from Haralick et al. (1973) the textural 
feature f_3 is the "Haralick's Correlation" which uses the mean and 
standard deviation of the *row/col sums* instead of the *weighted pixel 
averages* which is used by the "Correlation" feature (as stated in the 
paper "Statistical and Structural Approaches to Texture" by Haralick 
(1979)).

The features are also *clearly* labeled and also documented in the OTB 
software guide (
http://www.orfeo-toolbox.org/SoftwareGuide/SoftwareGuidech14.html). 
I just missed it and mixed up the formulas!
