Hi all,
To be more precise, the reason why Stephane sent this email is that we
have all those great ideas for Monteverdi (and other can have more), but
in the frame of CNES contract we can not address all of them (at least
not at the same time). By the past we decided mostly by ourselves which
one to pick, but now we would like Monteverdi to comply with OTB open
governance. So the idea is to try to determine which ones are the most
popular and then go through the RFC process with them. While we are
discussing this (hopefully with a lot of feedback from all of you),
Stephane will develop one or two very small items (and go though the RFC
process with them).
Regards,
Julien

Hi Stéphane,
I guess that the proper way to do this is going through the RFC process,
so we can collect comments and then identify who is going to do the
work.
Thank you for all this interesting proposals.

Dear All,
Please find hereafter a roadmap draft of functionalities we would like to
develop in Monteverdi 3. Order of items is no priority but here only for
referencing in later discussions. Items are also tagged as [S]mall,
[M]edium, [L]arge or [?] undetermined.
Please feel free to suggest features you would like to be added to the list. We
would also be glad to discuss specific items more in detail. If you wish to do
so, we will open a separate thread for each item as a
Request For Comments on the develop mailing-list.
1 [M] Pop-up dialog to select which dataset to open when loading compound
dataset
2 [M] Pop-up dialog to customize GDAL overviews generation/usage for large
inputs
3 [M]Load/Save XML file storing the layer-stack content and some additional
visualization settings (possiblity complying with QGIS file format for
interoperability)
4 [S] Save screenshot button+keyboard shortcut
5 [S] Find a way to use mouse wheel to zoom and CTRL+wheel to rotate layers
(The opposite of current shortcuts; the zoom function uses Ice light rendering
mode and is detected by pressing the CTRL key
modifier and headvy reander mode i.e. data loading is triggered when the CTRL
key is released)
6 [M] Implement complex SAR image loading and rendering (and possibly add some
basic polarimetry rendering using OpenGL shaders)
7 [?] Support use of colored LUT
8 [S] Also support OpenGL bi-cubic texture filtering (currently, only
bi-linear) when zooming more than 1:1
9 [L] Load shape files into layer-stack and display vector data in image-view
10 [M] Add a (rectangular) Region Of Interest selection tool
11 [M/L?] Display preview of OTB-applications result(s)
12 [M] Add an angle/distance/surface measure tool
13 [M] Support Ice viewport rotation feature
14 [S/M?] Restore image information widget (size, number of bands etc.)
We will implement smaller items first and start with item #4 Take Screenshot.
