I'm also running Ubuntu 14.04 ,from which repository did you install OTB?
I would suggest :
- remove all existing installed package for otb and monteverdi
- add ubuntugis-unstable PPA repository:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntugis/ubuntugis-unstable/ubuntu/
- apt-get update
- apt-get install monteverdi
After otb release 5.2, Monteverdi2 has been renamed in Monteverdi
(version 3.0). You should then be able to launch last stable version
with the command 'monteverdi'.
Let me know if you're able to install it.

I did a locate for libOTBApplicationEngine-5.0.so.1 and it is not found.
Can someone let me know what I'm doing wrong. I had Monteverdi running

break it.
