I don't think this is related to the Xeon CPU. My workstation is an Intel 
Xeon E5 and I never experienced any performance issue.
Can you provide us more details about your configuration? What platform are 
you using, how did you install OTB, etc.
What do you mean by performance problems? Is it slow? Multithreading not 
working? Can you provide us the full command line and the time duration, 
and also the output of the otbcli_ReadImageInfo from your input image?
