Thanks for the suggestion about submitting a bug report. When I went to the
report site I saw a that someone else had already reported this problem
(#0001369) and that it has been resolved. I updated my OTB version to from
5.10.0 to what I think is 5.11.0 (at least that is what Quicklook says,
though maybe this is really 5.10.1?) and it seems to have fixed the problem
for linux as well as for windows.
