It turns out that I cleaned up some remaining windows shortcuts to OTB 5.8 and launched the Monteverdi from the windows command line instead of the desktop short cuts. It opened without any issues or delay. Monteverdi with OTB 6.2 looks and feels great so far. I really like how the OTB Toolbox is available from the Monteverdi interface. Once I get the hang of it, I want to create a few video demonstrations.
