Hi, I am a recent graduate, so although I do not work in your area, I have an
idea of what frames of reference you maybe using.
1. biomechanical frame of reference - focuses on purposeful activities to
remediate loss of ROM, strength, and endurance.
2. neurodevelopmental frame of reference - addresses axial control,
automatic reactions, and limb control. Common techniques are inhibition and
facilitation
3. rehabilitation frame of reference - focuses on compensation techniques
when underlying deficits cannot be remediated. Methods include: adaptive
devices, UE orthotics, environmental modifications, adaptive procedures, and
safety education.
I hope this helps. These are the basic FOR we focused on in our phys dys
classes. I too hope the site spends more time discussing more basic
information such as treatment ideas, etc. As a new therapist that would help
me a lot. I hope you enjoy your student. Lisa
