I am currently in my second fieldwork II at Texas Tech. In the
clinic I am working in I have been given two spinal cord injury
patients. One has complete function from the waist up. Some feeling
in the right hip joint. She complains of constant pain 7/10 in the
right shoulder. They have me applying heat first for 15 min, then
arm pulley workout for 20 min with breaks, weighted pulleys with 6
lbs, and arm bike for 6-10 min.
The other patient has full function from waist up, but unable to
flex fingers in the right hand or completely extend fingers. Have
been working with putty, arm bike, and grip exercises. Have been
successful in bringing back partial grip.
Can anyone give me some suggestions on other therapies that I can
use. I feel that these patients can get back much more than I am
seeing, but I don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks In Advance,
