Attention Occcupational Therapists-

An important week is coming up.  You may not think this effects you, but if any of the following situations apply to you, read on.

1) You have a client with ANY TYPE of neurologic or orthopedic deficit who has a child age 8 or younger.
2) You have clients age eight or under.
3) The older adults you work with transport grandchildren age eight or below

National Child Passenger Safety Week is February 10-16

- The full body weight of an adult, excessive strength and the mobility/coordination of both upper extremities are typically required to properly install a child passenger safety seat.
- Over 80% of car seats are installed INCORRECTLY and many children who have outgrown car seats are improperly restrained until they are nine years old.

ARE YOUR CLIENTS SAFELY ENGAGING IN THE MEANINGFUL OCCUPATION OF COMMUNITY MOBILITY AS THEY RIDE AS CHILD PASSENGERS OR TRANSPORT CHILD PASSENGERS?

Know the facts!  Go the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website
NHTSA - National Highway Traffic Safety Administration  www.nhtsa.dot.gov
