Hello Krista,
I kind of feel the same way as you at times with some of my Acute
care pt's. Granted some of the diagnosis are bogus, (dehydration, vomiting,
diarrhea) I wonder wouldn't these pt's regain there ability to perform basic
ADL's once they are hydrated, blood transfusion is done, or acute pain in
managed through medication. does performing self care on edge of the bed or
standing in front of sink speed recovery? I work in a small acute unit and
the exciting acute rehab dx like TBI, SCI, burns, CVA are rare so maybe
this is why my opinion is somewhat clouded.
