Hi Anne: I am not aware of any dedicated OT instruments or models focusing on forensic risk assessments. As I had clarified before I honestly doubt that there are any OT risk assessment models or frames of reference for the which are dedicated to forensic risk assessment. Forensic psychiatric risk assessment is an area unto itself. If it is of any help, there are two concepts critical to forensic psychiatric risk assessments i.e. "static factors" and "dynamic factors". The former are historical facts about the individual i.e. being raised by a single parent before the age of 16; being suspended or expelled from school; having a criminal history prior to the age of 16 (of course all static factors do not relate to events prior to age 16). Static factors remain the same for all mentally disordered offenders (of course this would also be the case in a normal population). Dynamic factors refers to acts committed by the individual (in this case the mentally disordered offender) which are law violations; and also includes anti-social acts as well as those which are against social forms of authority. The recency of dynamic factors increases the risk profile of an offender; especially when combined with high static factor scores. The research so far is unclear on making predictions about the potential for reoffending based on an offender having lower dynamic factor scores over a current period (say the last 2 to 4 years). But these two principles are critical in risk assessment.
I will check and let you know about any OTs working in forensic psychiatry in the UK, however this will not be before April 30th.
