Chuck - Yes, I have contacted my Rep and Senators several times already. What I am looking for now is anyone's guess or opinion as to what will happen. I haven't heard lately about the OT being able to skill home health cases alone ( initially, since OT can already keep a patient skilled once a skilled need is established). As a home health practitioner, this one is dear to my heart. I would think it would be a very low cost change because at my agency, and I assume at many others, when we get referrals that could be OT only, we find a PT or nursing need to skill the patient. From what I could tell at AOTA site, this was included in the same Medicare modernization bill as another moratorium on the cap. But I am sure each individual item is up for grabs as they try to hammer out something that also addresses prescription drug coverage. So loo!
sen up and give us a guess - we'll know it isn't carved in stone. -- Jody
