Be Afraid.  Be very afraid.

O.k that's the cruel side of me coming out.

Be not afraid, use some of the anxiety that  you feel to help focus your studies, and have confidence in what you already know.
The practice tests are very helpful to go through the practice and to review some content.  Also, when I did the exam some years ago, I am sure that some of the questions from the practice books I had bought were exactly the same as some of the test questions (I think about 6 or so).  It seemed pretty eerie as I was writing, but then I realized that it could have been people who had taken the test, or perhaps there was a more sinister connection.

I see that you are getting some casual responses here, but maybe we should set-up a schedule of people to be on line for the 24 hr period before the exam, incase any exam writers are beginning to panic (hyperventilating, sweating, shaky, eyes rolling back, whimpering, teeth chattering etc.).  Those of us who have miraculously survived the ordeal could provide counselling.  Perhaps we could type soothing words like the following:  " You can do this.",   "Breathe. . . . . .  . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Breathe. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Breathe. . . (etc.)",  "Picture a happy place.  No not the exam room.  Think of the ocean.  No not being flooded with questions, you know the Atlantic Ocean.  No you're not on the Titanic.  O.k. forget the ocean.  Picture a forest.  No there are no grizzlies with NBCOT exams in the woods.  O.k. forget the forest.  O.k., picture a very dark little closet, you've closed the door, no NBCOT, or PES personnel can find you.  You are behind the winter clothes and have a pile of sweaters on top of you to be sure.  Only a slit where for your eyes and a little tuft of your frazzled hair could be seen sticking up from the sweaters if there was any light in this closet.  O.k., now breathe.  Good."

Listen, I am not a professional counsellor, so that's really the best I can come up with.  Perhaps we could quickly set-up a pre-exam anxiety page for FAQs:  "If sweaty palms click here XXXXXXX"   "If hyperventilating, click here  XXXXXXXXXXXX" etc.

Just some ideas.

Good luck on the exam.

Greg

By the way, after I stop cramming for every exam as I am walking in the line-up when the exam room doors are opened and I close my notes/text, I then start to hum "If you don't know me by now" by Simply Red.
