Hi Vivek:
The job outlook for OTs in Canada is very good in my opinion.
Especially as a senior OT if you have met all the requirements for
licensing and immigration in Canada I would think you would have no
problem finding a position here, at least in the province of Ontario.
Your background in physical medicine will also enable you to find work
in Ontario almost immediately in the private insurance sector doing
in-home ADL assessments of Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) victims. Of
course if you wish you could also make a career out of it, as many OTs
have. But in any event this would be an excellent place to start out
while you are applying to various health care facilities.
As regards the CAOT certification exam, I hear that they no longer
provide the booklet with about 60 or so sample exam questions as they
used to at least a few years ago. However, you might want to confirm
this with CAOT. I am told that the exam is still vignette based and
covers a fairly broad cross section of clinical (arguably with a bias
for peds), research and professional issues content. Perhaps someone
else who took the exam recently may be able to give you a more specific
idea.
Hope this helps,
Good luck,
Biraj
