hello Julia Brown, Have you checked out the www.myflorida.com website. There you will find the Florida OT practice act. You can also access different types of government entities such as Early Intervention programs, etc to get an understanding of how things work in Florida. There is also the Florida Occupational Therapy Association website of www.flota.org Both of these will help you find information about the current state of OT in Florida. Availability of jobs will depend on what area you wish to work in. Right now, there is a great need for pediatric trained therapists both in the schools and out. Rehab jobs are tough to come by in many areas but, if you have experience, you might be able to find jobs in more rural areas. Salaries vary and there is not one pay grade. Generally, salaries are in the $40,000/ year range with school system therapists making less. I've become the queen of low cost CEU's with money well spent on the occasional high priced course. I live in Florida and am the Developmental Disabilities Special Interest Section Chair so, if you have any questions in this area, please let me know.

I am a Deputy Head Occupational Therapist in the UK, and I am in the process of applying to take my exams with NBCOT and gain my Florida license. Is there any information about working as an Occupational Therapist including working practices, gradings, salaries, on-going training etc etc. Also are there any suggestions as to the best place to start looking for a job? regards Julia Brown *************************************************************** To remove yourself from the OTnow mail list, send a message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] In the message, indicate what address you want removed from OTnow - List messages are archived at: http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ****************************************************************
