Hi

I am a recent graduate working in a small physical therapy outpatient clinic
with the hopes of bringing a new element to the community and the practice.
The community I am working in has never truly been exposed to occupational
therapy on the outpatient level, there are OT's in the nursing home, hospital and
school district. Although the majority are contracted in. Overall bringing my
profession and name to the community has been very slow coming.

I have two questions-

1. For those of you in the outpatient community how do you bring the true
meaning of function and occupation to those who perceive their abilities as
fine? What marketing tools have proven to be most effective? How have you marketed
yourself to be "different"? I have conducted inservice, written articles for
the local paper, sent out media brochures to physicians and local resources
(libraries, community resource centers).

2- I am treating an individual in the home for home assessments and
environmental modifications- 63yo male with CP, Med B. Is there a modifier required
of
these services when billing Medicare?

Thank you

Erin van Gelder OTR/L
