Hey Ron, Here is a link for IT band stretches: http://www.nismat.org/ptcor/itb_stretch/
Remembering the principles of response to acute injury/flare up would lead to a recommendation of ice and rest. I suppose from your description that the pain would be the lateral surface of the thigh. This would probably rule out piriformis syndrome as that would generally involve the posterior aspect of the buttocks and thigh. IT band issues, of which I am familiar as a former runner, generally hurt just proximal to the knee joint's lateral surface. Is there laxity in the ligamentous structures about the pelvis/hip. this is common following childbirth and could lead to pain as you are describing. The suggestion someone else had regarding pilates may be useful as it is low impact and works on stabilization principles. I would consider lumbar/pelvic stabilization exercises and some general hip strengthening. http://www.nismat.org/ptcor/lbp/ http://www.nismat.org/traintip/runner/strength.html Jimmie -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Ron Carson Sent: Wednesday, February 23, 2005 4:27 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [BULK] [OTlist] Stretches Importance: Low Hello: My wife is having LE pain radiating from her hip to her knee. The pains seems to be muscular and not neurological or skeletal. I suspect a tight IT band. Our son was born 2 months ago and I suspect that her leg pain is related to child-bearing and increased standing/sitting/bending/stooping s/p delivery. Any suggestions? Thanks, Ron C. -- Unsubscribe?
