Hello:

Today, I started to eval an OTA student's father. The prescription from
the doctor was a little obscure about PT versus OT. Nothing too unusual.

I called the student to discuss some things about her dad and she
conveyed the following story.

She had gone to the doctor's visit with her dad. Initially, he ordered
PT for her dad because of some ataxia issues. The student asked the
doctor about OT. According to the student, the doctor says "The PT will
determine if OT is necessary." The student asked the doctor if he ever
ordered OT and he says, "No, because insurance often won't pay for it".
The doctor then asked told the student that if she wanted OT on the
script then he'd put it on.

Now the really sad part is that I have seen this doctor's patients on
many times. In fact, I walked into his office on time with a script he'd
written for PT and asked him to change it to OT.

Onward we go!!

Ron
