quote> and please change the subject ine if you change the subject!

Technically speaking, it is considered bad etiquette to change the
subject line of a message. If a message warrants a new subject, it is
best to start an entirely new message. Here's why.

Messages are archived either by thread or date. The thread format, lumps
messages with the same thread id. The thread ID is independent of the
subject. So, if someone replies to a message and changes the subject,
that message is archived with the thread's other messages. If people
keep changing subject lines, the threads end up a mess. Here's a couple
of examples, taken from the OTnow archive.

THIS IS HOW A THREAD APPEARS WHEN SUBJECTS ARE LEFT UNALTERED:

[OTlist] US only? (Was: This is an interesting website)

Anyway, it's not that big of a deal, but I thought I would mention it.
