I've sent a private email to Jenny, but I thought I would respond to the
list as well. There are many opportunities for OT entrepreneurs, but there
are many differences between having a job and owning a business that have to
be considered for a person to become successful. You need to be thinking
about funding/cash flow, insurance and preparation for the un-expected, who,
where, and how many clients you may have the ability to reach and how many
of them you need to see for financial health of the business, and referral
sources, marketing to reach and stay in front of those referral sources and
so many other business things on top of doing what motivated you to start
the practice in the first place. That's all I can think of off the top of
my head this morning. There is so much to do and such a variety of skills
required, that partnerships, alliances, or enough money to outsource some
jobs may be necessary. That's the "gloomy part" of business. The best
part is that if you have a strong enough vision, you will really enjoy the
creative process of making that vision possible. .... I just remembered
you were talking about a low vision practice, no pun intended.

Subject: [OTlist] new to list

Hello,
My name is Jenny Daup and I'm an OT in Nebraska and new to the group. I'm
looking at doing some low vision rehab. Anyone have experience setting up a
practice? Willing to share suggestions?
Jenny
