Hay Pat,

Just so you know - you're not the only 'balloon OT' out there!  Us paediatric 
OTs often use balloons with children with coordination difficulties - ball 
skills, etc.  It especially helps children with a startle reflex  that is still 
present.  The children positively light up when they manage to 'catch' a 
balloon when they are used to repeated failure when catching a ball.  We use 
scarves as well...
