I worked for a Harborside facility that modified two patient rooms to make a
transitional suite. It included a redone bathroom just like those in homes, a
bedroom with a mattress that was too high for patients to get into, furniture
that was purchased by the maintenance man from a cheapo furniture store, a
tiny sink, a fridge, no stove, a microwave and TV. No one wanted to use it
because they were afraid nursing wouldn't answer the call light if they had
trouble and they wanted their meals from the dining room or they wanted to eat
in the dining room. It wasn't homey, wasn't cheerful and the furniture was
uncomfortable. And there was no telephone. Go figure!!!
